PMF 2019 - the 30th Anniversary of PMF! |
PMF 2019 will mark the Pacific Music Festival’s 30th anniversary. Since Leonard Bernstein founded the festival in 1990, PMF has steadily passed on his vision, and now a cumulative total of over 3,500 talented young musicians have taken part. Bernstein’s enduring love for music and peace come together in harmony at PMF. In celebration of this milestone, PMF 2019 will present a host of special projects. Here are a few highlights: |
A concert at the new Sapporo Cultural Arts Theater “hitaru” This new multi-purpose hall was opened just last year, and it has already established itself as a cultural hotspot of the city. PMF will present its first concert at hitaru on July 28! |
The PMF Orchestra and the winner of the woodwind division of the Tchaikovsky Competition For the first time in the competition’s history, the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition will include a woodwind division. Results of the competition will be decided only days before PMF 2019 begins, and the winner of this new division will then travel to Japan to perform as soloist with the PMF Orchestra on their final program! |
PMF Premium Concerts With an orchestra made up of the Academy, faculty, alumni, and a chorus formed just for these concerts, we will present the PMF premiere of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, led by the festival’s former Artistic Director Maestro Christoph Eschenbach! |
Watch for program details to be announced soon, on the the PMF website, and the PMF Facebook page, where you can always get the most up-to-date information! |
